American Bobtail

An adorable cat, that is quickly gaining popularity, the Bobtail should be medium to large in size with, of course, a tail of only 1″ to 6″ in length. The kittens are actually born with this trait, they are not docked as in some dog breeds. Bobtails have a broad, almost wedge shaped head, and large eyes. The coat may be short or long haired, does not mat, and is resistant to water.

These cats should show a natural rolling gait when in motion. This is a slow maturing breed taking two to three years to reach full adult type. Color may be spotted or ticked brown, most often with a tabby pattern. All colors and patterns have been found, including points with or without markings.

Grooming is minimal. Most cats stay relatively clean and rarely need a bath, but they do need to be brushed or combed to stimulate blood circulation and promote good health. A grooming glove or mitten can make this process as simply as daily petting.
