Chartreux Cat

The Chartreux is a rather sturdy looking cat,
with a broad chest and pronounced cheeks tapering to a small muzzle,
giving the cat an almost permanent smiling appearance. The Chartreux
personality has been compared to that of a dog, forming a strong
attachment to their home and family. The coat is medium short and a
little wooly in texture due to a dense undercoat, thinner on young
cats and females. Blue is considered the only acceptable color, but
it may vary in shade all the way to a deep slate. The tips of the
hair should have a pale silver cast, but the coat itself should
appear clean and not barred or ticked.
Most cats stay relatively clean and rarely need a bath, but they do
need to be brushed or combed to stimulate blood circulation and
promote good health. A grooming glove or mitten can make this
process as simply as daily petting.
