All About Exotic Animals
Lions, Tigers and Bears! Oh my! While owning a tiger might sound
like a great idea to some pet fanciers, they are actually dangerous
creatures that would be better left to the professionals. There are
some exotics that DO make great pets however!

Responsible Pet Ownership
People thinking about obtaining an exotic pet should carefully consider
whether their lifestyle and finances are compatible with a
considerable commitment of time, effort and money over a long
period. Potential exotic pet owners should consider the type of
exotic best
suited to them, especially if they are considering something that
might have special needs, such as primates or large predators. Large
predators for example, will require a LOT of
fresh meat and can be dangerous when fully grown. Not an easy pet to
care for when compared to a little pet hamster or gerbil. The responsibilities of owning an
exotic animal is significant
and long-term. Ownership should be considered a privilege and
not a right. Acquiring an exotic should not be the result of a
spontaneous or unplanned action. It should be the result of careful
planning and a clear understanding of all the legal and other
responsibilities involved, such as
obtaining a permit to own exotic pets. Therefore the decision to own an exotic
animal
should be an informed one, with acknowledgment by prospective owners
of the commitment and responsibility involved in caring for them.
